What is KMC?

Knowledge Management Center (KMC) is a learning repository on urban transport set up by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India under the World Bank - UNDP supported GEF Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP). It is a repository for all the stakeholders such as Government, Business, Consultants, Academia, Citizens, Policy makers, Industry, Consultancy & Research community working in the domain of Urban Transport. The portal is expected to facilitate systematic collection, assimilation, transformation, loading, interpretation and analysis of data in evolving future policies, programs and strategies besides enhancing the level of awareness of citizens on Urban Transport matters.

Who maintains KMC?

Institute of Urban Transport (India) has been designated by the MoUD for maintaining KMC.

Who can use KMC?

KMC is open to the stakeholders such as Government, Business, Consultants, Academia, Citizens, Policy makers, Industry, Consultancy & Research community working in the domain of Urban Transport. However, users need to register themselves on the portal to access few of the restricted sections of KMC.

What data is available on KMC?

Data related to urban transport is available on the portal. It has been categorised under 4 heads - Demand, Supply, Performance and Impact. These four categories have 35 subheads with more than 200 indicators.

Where does data come from?

The data available on the KMC has been assimilated from various published and unpublished documents and reports of the cities such as Comprehensive Mobility Plans (CMP), Comprehensive Traffic & Transportation Studies (CTTS), various detailed project reports (DPRs) of the respective cities and other secondary sources.

Is there a format for data submission?

Yes. There is a standard format for submission of data. The submitted data undergoes multiple rounds of thorough checking before being uploaded in the KMC repository.

Which cities data is available?

The list and names of the available cities data can be viewed by clicking on "KMC Cities" link provided in right side edge of the home page.

How to flag any errors?

If an error is observed by user in any section of this portal, they are requested to inform the KMC management by submitting the same in feedback section of Contact Us.

What is the difference between 'Single City' & 'Multiple City' selection under Data Resources section ?

'Single City' selection provides the parameters which covers comparison and display of data in Table, Charts, Maps & Thematic Maps for a single city formats whereas, 'Multiple City' selection provides additional parameters which cross-compares applicable indicators against Demand/Supply/Performance/Impact for multiple cities in scope.

What are Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ?

KPIs are the Key Performance Indicators which provides cross referencing and comparison between various parameters of Demand/Supply/Performance/Impact for multiple cities.

What is Transpose Axis?

Transpose axis option is to interchange the axis parameters while creating own charts under Data Resources section.

What are Sources & Remarks?

Sources & Remarks provides the basic information of the selected parameter's data source from where they were collected and any additional information for user's reference.
